Professional Development Advisory Committee

The Professional Development Advisory Committee is comprised of recruiting, professional development and diversity professionals at member law firms and has three critical functions:

(1) Provide the Chicago Committee staff with valuable insight and constructive criticism from their unique professional perspectives.

(2) Aid the Chicago Committee in developing programming for all constituencies and identifying the needed resources specific to this community of their peer professionals.

(3) Assist in bringing together recruiting, professional development and diversity professionals to engage in candid dialogue about the ways in which their roles overlap and exchange ideas about ways to increase and maintain diversity at their individual firms.

Sherry Gini
Director of Human Resources

Sherry Gini is Director of Human Resources at Goldberg Kohn, a 100-attorney firm in Chicago.  Ms. Gini joined the firm in 1999 and focuses on human resources, recruiting and professional development for the staff and attorneys. She is also a member of the diversity committee.  Ms. Gini has 15 years of human resources experience in the legal and corporate communities and received her M.S. in HR from Loyola University Chicago.  She is an active member in the ALA, SHRM, SHRP & CALPA associations and participates in the Menttium Mentor program for professional women.

Stacey M. Kielbasa
Director of Professional Development, Attorney Recruitment & Diversity

Stacey Kielbasa is the Director of Professional Development, Attorney Recruitment and Diversity at Chapman and Cutler LLP, and has been working in recruitment and professional development since 2001.  Ms. Kielbasa began her career at Chapman in the summer of 1998 as a summer associate and was an associate at the Firm in the Public Finance Department from 1999-2001.  Her recruiting and professional development role was expanded to include diversity several years ago and as a member of the diversity committee, she has had an opportunity to set new firm goals and implement policy changes, as well as focus on the recruitment and retention of diverse attorneys. Ms. Kielbasa received her J.D. and her Masters of Education from the University of Illinois, where she was a pre-law advisor for undergraduate students. She an active member of CALPA, NALP, the National Professional Development Consortium, and the Chicago Professional Development Consortium.

Justine Maury
Professional Personnel Coordinator

Justine Maury is the Professional Personnel Coordinator in the Chicago office of Dykema Gossett PLLC. Dykema is a leading national firm with nearly 400 attorneys and professionals with major offices located in Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. The Chicago office has 100+ attorneys. Ms. Maury has been with the firm since 1998 in multiple roles with a variety of duties including HR and office administration. She currently focuses on the recruiting and professional development of lawyers, management of the Chicago office summer associate program and actively supporting the diversity committee. Ms. Maury has been a Board Member of the Chicago chapter of ALA, is a current member of the recruiting, diversity, and lawyer professional development sections of NALP, and is an active member of CALPA. Her speaking engagements have included 3 years as a panelist for the CLEO job fair.

Amy Pretty
Attorney Recruiting Coordinator

Amy Pretty is the Attorney Recruiting Coordinator at McGuire Woods LLP, and has been working in the legal profession for eight years. She began first as an associate in the Commercial Litigation department of Foley & Lardner LLP from 2001 – 2003, then as a Legal Placement Consultant for Ajilon Legal from 2003 – 2005. Ms. Leytem has been working in recruitment and professional development for McGuire Woods since 2005. She received her J.D. from the University of Iowa, and is currently the Vice President of CALPA, the Chicago Association of Legal Personnel Administrators.

Sonia Menon
Director of Professional Recruitment & Development

Sonia Menon is the Director of Professional Recruitment &  Development at Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg LLP, a 200 lawyer Chicago law firm.  Ms. Menon manages all aspects of lateral and law school recruitment, the firm’s summer associate program, attorney evaluation, compensation and diversity initiatives.  She is responsible for attorney professional development, CLE curriculum and she oversees the firm’s mentoring programs and attorney orientation and integration programs.  She also is actively involved in supporting the firm’s Women’s Network committee and Diversity committee.  Ms. Menon is an active NALP member, and her contributions include serving on NALP’s Board as Treasurer (2005-2007), chairing the Awards of Distinction Committee, NALP Audit and Investment Committee.  She recently chaired the 2007-2008 NALP Nominating Committee, and served as chair of NALP’s Diversity Summit planning committee (2007).  She served as Regional Coordinator in 2004.  Ms. Menon served as Vice-President of the Chicago city group (CALPA) where she remains an active member, and also is a member of the Professional Development Consortium (PDC).  Ms. Menon graduated in 1988 with a honors degree in Psychology.
